Young Leaders Track

At the Social Enterprise Alliance we believe in the importance of cultivating next generation leadership for the future of social enterprise. The Summit + World Forum will feature a number of activities targeted toward and drawing on the perspective of emerging leaders. Look for these special opportunities for the 35-and-under crowd and current students:

Young Innovators Award
The Next Generation Social Entrepreneur award will recognize the outstanding work of a leading social entrepreneur in the United States, aged 35 or under. The selected individual will be a successful practitioner whose contributions to the field of social enterprise has had far reaching impact and is helping to define a new generation of social entrepreneurs.

Angel's Forum
We're inviting social enterprises to pitch their venture for feedback from capital investors. This session provides practice on presenting your business or expansion plan. We'll have a panel of judges representing foundations and venture capitalists to provide feedback and determine the winning 'pitcher' to receive a small prize. The audience may be invited to vote as well. "Pitchers' will include a young innovator.

Social Enterprise Showcase & Reception
The SEA San Francisco Chapter is hosting this event to kick off the Summit 2010 + World Forum with a special reception featuring exhibits of social enterprises. If you've started a social enterprise, plan to display a table showcasing what you do. Everyone will be able to enjoy drinks and hors d'oeuvre and help us celebrate the 2010 World Forum.

Social Enterprise Tours
Plan to take some time visiting social enterprises around the Bay Area. There are plenty of inspiring examples of all kinds of ventures. We'll offer tours on Wed. April 28 and Friday April 30. Pricing varies.

In-depth Workshops
Stay tuned for half-day workshops that will be offered on Wednesday, April 28, on key topics for helping your social enterprise succeed.

Breakout Sessions
The Summit offers over 40 sessions on all aspects of planning and operating a social enterprise, with presentations from around the globe. Check out the sessions specially designated for Young Leaders.

World Café
Speed dating a la` Social Enterprise! During the conference lunch breaks you get to choose from one of twenty World Café` tables, each featuring a different social enterprise, for 20 minutes of conversation about the enterprise's history and programs. After 20 minutes you may switch to another table for another round of conversation. All the tables will be hosted by leaders from various social enterprise missions and models.
