What does this software do?

This software was designed specifically for nonprofit organizations as an easy-to-use blueprint and interactive planning tool for successful earned income ventures. It includes a step-by-step approach to market analysis, strategy and implementation description, social return on investment, sales forecast, personnel plan, financial statements, and more.


Will it help me find a good income producing venture?

Probably not. This software is intended for nonprofits that have already undertaken an organizational assessment to determine their capacity and readiness for social enterprise and have identified one or more concepts they’d like to pursue through a structured planning process.


Is this software tested and reliable?

Business Plan Pro has been the top-selling business planning software since 1999. How does the Social Enterprise Edition differ from regular Business Plan Pro?

The Social Enterprise Edition incorporates all the advanced features of the Premier version of BPP, including collaboration tools, Cash Pilot, spreadsheet importing and more, plus special features such as the integration of mission, social return on investment, human resource elements, and actual social enterprise business examples.


Does the software force you to follow a standard outline?

No, the plan outline can be easily customized. Just click on any topic in the outline to drag ‘n drop it elsewhere in the plan, or right-click to rename it or remove it altogether if it doesn’t really fit your plan.


Can several people work on a single business plan at the same time?

Absolutely. Each team member with his/her own copy of BPP-SE Edition can use the “Collaborate” function to share text or spreadsheets, edit and track changes, and merge content into a final consolidated plan.


Can I import my organization’s financials into my business plan?

Financials created with QuickBooks can be directly imported into your business plan. Users of other systems can export to/from their accounting application to Excel. Excel workbooks can then be imported into BPP-SE as custom worksheets.


Can I load the program on more than one computer?

The software is a "single user license”. Though a buyer can load the program on both a home and work computer, it’s intended only for personal use. For organizations, multi-unit licenses are available for 3, 5 or 10 users within the same corporation and offer substantial savings over single unit pricing. A network version is not available at this time.


Is there a MAC version available?

Not yet, however MAC users have reported that Business Plan Pro operates using the “virtual PC” option.


What about future upgrades?

New plans are routinely added to the Business Plan Library and are available to all registered users. Technical updates to the program itself are also available free of charge using the Tools > Upgrade Manager option. Future program upgrades that add new features may be purchased by existing owners for a nominal fee.


If I have a problem with the software, where can I get help?

We provide prompt and professional support for registered users by email and through a comprehensive on-line support center for two years after date of purchase. Support staff in Eugene, Oregon are also available by phone (541-683-6162) Monday through Friday, from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Pacific. Up to four incidents are supported for free, with a fee of $10 per incident thereafter.


Does the software work in other countries?

Business Plan Pro’s accounting principals are based on standard GAAP-compliant Western accounting standards used throughout the world. Your plan is fully customizable and all tables, charts and financials can be easily reformatted at once to international currency designations (€, £, ¥, A$, DM, FF, HK$, etc.). Likewise, corporate tax rates can be adjusted to any standard, e.g. GST (Canada), VAT (UK), etc.
